12" rims are an extremely popular size on sport and utility ATV's.
Depending on your make and model, you can have a 12" rim with tires that range in diameter from as small as 16" all the way up to 30" (or more, although that usually requires some additionally installed hardware).
Because of the wide range of sizes and the popularity of 12" wheels, you can find all sorts of tires for your ATV. In this guide, we highlight just a few of the popular mud tires you can install on your ATV.
*Please note- the term "mud tires" encompasses a wide range of tires and is always up for "interpretation". For the purpose of this review, we stuck to more aggressive mud tires designed for riding on soft surfaces.
*Please also note- this is a sampling of a few available mud tires, not an exhaustive list. For a complete line-up of our ATV/UTV tires for 12" wheels, click the button below.
Kenda® Executioner K538
First up on our list is the Kenda Executioner.
Perhaps their only true mud tire, the executioner has a design that is as beastly as it's name.
Featuring wide open lug spacing and deep tread, the Kenda Executioner is guaranteed to give you the traction you need when you drive through the thick stuff.
Not only that, but the reinforced knobs help improve ride comfort making those sticks and stones just a tiny bump in the road
Featuring 6-ply construction, this tire is light but has the necessary strength to guard against punctures and abrasions.
Interco® Super Swamper TSL Bogger
When it comes to mud tires, few names in the industry have the reputation of the Interco® Super Swamper.
An instantly recognizable tread design, the Super Swamper has unbelievable tread depth and a lug pattern that will have you tossin' mud farther than you can throw.
The only downside (and I mean only) is that it's tread is so aggressive that if you aren't doing the most extreme off-roading, this tire probably isn't for you.
I should also note that although the Super Swamper has been singled out, virtually every single one of Interco's tires would be able to get you out of the muckiest situations.
ITP® Mud Lite Series
Another staple in the ATV and UTV world is the ITP® Mud Lite series.
Designed with the classic Chevron style, directional tread, the Mud Lite tires allow you to quickly and easily eject any mud and caking that occurs in the tread blocks.
This gives you continuous grip even as you transition from mud to hard pack in your most difficult trails.
Not only that, but the 6-ply rating and extended-wear rubber compound gives you fantastic tire strength and puncture resistance.
Available in the following five options:
- Mud Lite AT
- Mud Lite II
- Mud Lite XTR
- Mud Lite XL
- Mud Lite XXL
GBC® Spartacus
The GBC Spartacus would be just another Mud Lite looking tire except for a few details that make it unique in it's own way.
Rather than the Chevron coming to a point as in most tires, the GBC Spartacus keeps it tread staggered and open.
This keeps dirt and debris from ever getting stuck and allows next level self cleaning.
In addition, the tires has large sipes across the tread blocks for enhanced traction.
Lastly, the open spaces of the tread feature a small tread block for that extra grip when you need it most.
All in all, the Spartacus is a great all around mud tire.
Kenda® Bear Claw
The Kenda Bear Claw works exceptionally well on soft to intermediate terrain making it a perfect choice as a mud tire.
The widely spaced knobs and center knobs ensure that you get plenty of grip and traction while the angle of the lugs ensures that whatever is stuck inside the tire is quickly ejected.
Not only that, but the 6-ply design ensures that the tire has the durability you need to conquer the trail ahead while also staying lightweight and agile.
These features and it's renowned durability make the Kenda Bear Claw an extremely popular choice.
Conclusion
As you can see, when it comes to mud tires for your ATV, there isn't one size that fits all.
Although any of these mud tires would be a great choice for your ATV, these are just a sample of the wide range of tires available for your ride.
Thankfully, at Ride or Die Tire, we have a tire for you, no matter what terrain you are riding in.
